Game rules and paytables: your starting point

GoldenGames Asia looks at how games work before looking at how they are promoted.

Read the version you are using

Games with similar names can have different rules or settings. Open the help panel and paytable of the actual version rather than relying on an image or a description found elsewhere. Check how a win is defined and whether special features have a separate cost.

Understand the displayed return

A theoretical return figure describes a long-run model, not a promised refund for one player. Short sessions can differ substantially from that average. A recent losing sequence does not establish that a win is due.

Decide the session boundary

Choose a time limit and an amount you can afford to lose before starting. Keep essential spending outside that amount. If a game’s rules or costs remain unclear, there is no need to continue simply because the presentation looks familiar.
